Yep. Same for me. After doing a make all, I then did a make zImage and
it worked.

It worked fine for me. May I suggest that you try make config instead
of make menuconfig?

Sounbds about right, but if you only have a 292MB partition, Why do you
want all the stuff from the FTP site? I suggest you get rid of some of
it (using rpm -e).
